City Crest
Each section shows a special part of our history.
The beehive reminds us how hard and busy the first people worked.
The sheaves of wheat help us remember when Moncton was a farming area.
The old steam train reminds us of the railway.
The Tidal Bore of downtown Moncton.
The blacksmith and farmer remind us of some of the early settlers in Moncton.
The arm and hammer remind us of the men who built the ships.
Finally, Moncton’s motto – Resurgo meaning "I rise again".
Moncton 100 Monument
The Moncton 100 Monument was crafted by internationally-known artist Claude Roussel. Unveiled on December 30, 1990, as part of the City of Moncton’s 100th anniversary celebrations, the Monument stands at the foot of Bore Park and depicts Moncton’s first mayor, Joseph Salter. It is an appropriate location since the Salter Shipyards existed only a stone’s-throw away and Salter himself once sailed the Petitcodiac River.
